Coverage: Wekfest East 2016

Wekfest East (or Wekeast for short) is one of the largest enthusiast events in the northeast. The sheer quantity and quality of builds and people that make an appearance at Wekeast just absolutely blows my mind. As a whole, Wekfest holds events in 7 U.S. cities, and one event in Japan. Wekeast is always one of my favorite events of the year, and not just because it happens to be right down the street from my house. The quality of builds that come out of the northeast is insane. So much time, detail, and dedication goes into these builds, and for some, Wekeast is the first event that they are revealing their builds.

As seen above, our famous “White Car Party” made it’s presence again this year. Between our two booths (SoFresh and RavSpec/JDM Wheel), we had close to 40 booth cars that took home 9 awards! With there only having been 32 awards given out, we are so proud to call these guys a part of our family.

Tons of different types of builds present themselves at Wekeast. Stance, race, import, domestic; there’s a build for everyone to enjoy. The one thing that caught my eye this year was the VIP builds. VIP style has been huge in Japan for a little while, and is finally starting to make it’s way to the U.S. It’s nice to see that VIP has made it’s way over to the east coast, and more importantly, that it’s being done the right way.

The import class definitely drew a lot of attention. Whether it’s built for form or built for function, this class surely does not disappoint. Here’s some of the show-stoppers from Wekeast.

Even the domestic class came out strong this year. There were so many unique builds that I would have never even imagined doing.

The overall quality that was brought out at Wekeast was some of the best we’ve seen this season. We just want to extend a huge thank you to everyone that stopped by the SoFresh/RavSpec/JDMWheel booth and grabbed some goodies. We always love seeing familiar faces and, of course, meeting new ones! Thank you everyone for the continued support!

Can’t wait to see everyone next year!
